NIGER - Niamey. After his quick visit to the University of Cotonou, in Benin, the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, flew on April 15th to the Nigerian capital, Niamey. Niger is the second country Ahmadinejad has visited in his three days’ journey in Africa, before ending his trip in Ghana.

The Iranian President’s trip in Niger is significant because the African country is the uranium fourth world producer, the most common mineral in production of nuclear energy and nuclear weapon. In 2003, the American presidency presented a series of documents, later discovered as false, in which there was evidence of an uranium selling from Niger to Iraq, the smocking gun of the Iraqis WMD production  (AGC: L'Iran punta all'Africa)

The Nigerian case was the pillar of the Usa Iraq invasion, few month later.

Uranium will be the focal point of the discussions between Ahmadinejad and the Nigerien President Mahmadou Issoufou. In fact, since the beginning of 2013, the Nigerien President is trying to diversify the client for his country’s natural resource, in order to have a price’s growing towards the French company Areva, that has exploited the Nigerian uranium in the last forty years. Our local sources reported the Iranian president flew to Niamey to support the expansion of the Shia in the country, too. There,  a small Shiite community is quietly living.
